HCM City to curb flooding with Japanese technology in reservoirs

The HCMC People’s Committee has allowed Japanese Sekisui Company to build a water containing reservoir with polypropylene material which aims to ease flooding during heavy rain and high tide. 

Ủy ban nhân dân thành phố Hồ Chí Minh đã cho phép công ty Nhật Bản Sekisui xây dựng bể chứa nước với nguyên liệu là PP nhằm giam lũ lụt trong suốt mùa mưa to và thủy triều dâng cao.

Experts all agree that water reservoirs are a good solution to the flooding. The reservoirs may store tens of millions of cubic meters, thus reducing the flooding by 30 percent.

Tất cả các chuyên gia đều đồng ý rằng hồ chứa nước là giải pháp tốt cho nạn lụt. Các hồ chứa có thể chứa 10 triệu khối nước, do đó giảm 30%

Sekisui has got the nod from the city authorities on the building of an underground water reservoir with the capacity of 100 cubic meters. The expenditures will be funded by Sekisui, while it will take about nine months to carry out field work and execution.

Sekisui đã đạt được sự tán thành của chính quyền thành phố về việc xây dựng bể chứa ngầm sức chứa 100 m3/ bể. Chi phí sẽ được gây quỹ bởi Sekisui, trong khi họ mất 9 tháng để tiến hành công việc và hoàn thành.

According to the investor from Japan, the material to be used to build the reservoir is called ‘cross – wave’ which has high mechanical durability, is easily installed and uninstalled and favorable for construction.

Theo nhà đầu tư từ Nhật Bản, vật liệu được sử dụng để xây bể chứa được gọi là 'cross - wave', đây là vật liệu có độ bền cao, dễ dàng lắp đặt và tháo dỡ, và được ưu chuộng trong xây dựng.

The technology can be applied to small and narrow sites, while the water storage space is up to 90 percent and is friendly to the environment.

Kỹ thuật này có thể được áp dụng cho các địa điểm nhỏ và chật hẹp, trong đó không gian chứa nước lên tới 90% diện tích lắp đặt và thân thiện với môi trường.

After the construction of the underground reservoir is completed, the dirt removed will be given back to public works such as parking lots, parks and stadiums with the vertical load capacity of up to 25 tons.

Sau khi công trình bể chứa ngầm được hoàn thành, nó sẽ được trả lại để làm các công trình công cộng như bãi đỗ xe, công viên, sân vận động với khả năng chịu tải lên tới 25 tấn.

According to the HCMC Anti-flooding Center, the building of the reservoir with the special material suggested by Sekisui is very useful. It will help the city authorities choose the best solution to prevent flooding in the future.

Theo như Trung tâm phòng chống lũ lụt Tp.HCM, công trình này với vật liệu được đề nghị bởi Sekisui thì rất hữu dụng. Nó giúp cho chính quyền chọn được giải pháp tốt nhất để ngăn lũ trong tương lai.

In 2015, the municipal authorities chose several places for the rainwater storage system it planned to build in order to ease the pressure on the common drainage system. 

Năm 2015, chính quỳên thành phồ chọn được 1 vài nơi cho hệ thống trữ nước mưa, họ lên kế hoạch để xây dựng để giảm áp lực cho hệ thống thoát nước.

The rainwater storage system comprises reservoirs located in residential quarters, and offices which can be used for the cleaning and watering.

Besides the new water reservoirs to be built, some existing lakes will be expanded and upgraded to serve as water regulation reservoirs. 

Bên cạnh những bể chứa mới được xây dựng, nhiều hồ hiện tại sẽ được mở rộng và nâng cấp để phục vụ như bể chứa quy định.

These include the lake in the Linh Dong Park in Thu Duc district, covering an area of 8 hectares and a 2 hectare lake in the 87-hectare land plot in An Phu Ward of district 2.

Bao gồm hồ ở công viên Linh Đồng ở quận Thủ Đức, bao phủ một khu vực 8 hecta và 2 hecta hồ trong 87 hecta lô đất ở An Phú Ward thuộc quận 2.

The lakes in An Lac ward’s Park, in Binh Tan district, Song Tan Pond in district 7 and some other districts are also under consideration.

Hồ nước ở công viên An Lạc quận Bình Tân, Ao Song Tân ở quận 7 và nhiều quận khác cũng thuộc công trình này.

Experts said though the land in the city is limited, building water reservoirs remains a feasible solution if the city can use the underground reservoirs in harmonization with public works.

Các chuyên gia cho rằng mặc dù đất ở thành phố thì giới hạn, việc xây dựng bể chứa nước duy trì giải pháp linh hoạt nếu chính quyền có thể sử dụng bể chứa ngầm hòa hợp vào công trình công cộng.
